Tea for Three @ our Pretend Picnic!

Yesterday it rained!!! And rained, and rained and rained...

And did I report that it rained some more.

We were inside for the day.  Mama was away on business this week and I figured we needed to pace ourselves after our busy weekend.

Kaleidoscope Time!

First thought: Time to break out some of those birthday presents that Vera got but I had yet to give to the kids...

Second thought: There were two presents that would make a perfect play picnic! + We have a big open empty space in our living room (yes this a another reference to our lack of furniture...) = imaginary play time!

I got out a big tablecloth and threw it on the floor.  I told Jonah to gather up all our play food so that we can have picnic - he was slightly intrigued.

I opened up the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Tea Set (see here) and the Leap Frog Learning Picnic Basket (see here).  We already have the Fisher Price Learning Sounds Picnic Basket (see here).

And that was it.  The kids really had fun.  Jonah was obsessed with pouring the tea from the tea pot (it makes this little "pouring sound" when you do so).  Vera was really into drinking the tea from the cups and trying to walk around with the picnic baskets.  Jonah was making all kinds of sandwiches for us.  There were these cute little cupcakes that both the kids were pretend eating.  It was quite the picnic.

We played until lunch time.  Then we had our own real picnic in the kitchen.  Fried eggs, cheese on toast sandwiches and cantaloupe!  After all that pretend picnicking the kids ate all their lunch.  This is not the norm, so it made me very happy!

We left the picnic blanket out, and we had at least 3 more picnics today... as it was still raining... we left it out again as they are predicting plenty more rain this week...

Drink it up Vera!
