The other day after camp we swung by the National Museum of Native American History. It has been on our list for a while now and there were two things we wanted to do there (1) visit the ImagiNations kid area and (2) see the Olympic exhibit. There was a special stroytime/craft project in the Imagination kid area that I hoped to go to, but alas when we got there - just in the nick of time, my kids wanted to run around the play area and wanted nothing to do with an organized activity. So we PLAYED! Jonah has recently started telling me all about his "imagination" so I thought it was perfect to be hanging out in the place called "ImagiNations" - they had a ton to do, teepees, snowshoes, boats, puzzloes, books, and lots of running around and stamping our paper passports...
After we did that, we went to another exhibit on Native Americans in the Olympics - I wanted to do something olympic-y. Jonah and Vera were both wearing their little gold medals and loved the pcitures and the video.
Then we were ready for snacks and to go home - but suprise - right in front of the museum was a horse and alpaca event!!!! My kids love a good animal interaction (and can you beleive this is our second alapaca one) - they were totally excited. We hung with our four legged friends for a bit but it was hot and we needed our ice cream! Spiderman and Dora ice cream!!!
Sleeping on the ride home!
A good day using our imaginations!
