Heather Capell Bramble is mother of two kaleidoscoping kids, Jonah and Vera. She has a magical kaleidoscope, often in her back pocket, and it usually helps her turn her normally chaotic life into something beautiful. watercolor wonders...

One January afternoon when it happened to be too cold outside to play (it was a weird January... super cold some days and then 65 degrees other days... clearly Mother Nature is conflicted), we were still thinking of our beach vacation...

We busted out our crayons (Jonah and Vera are obsessed with coloring these days!), paper and watered down paints... to do some simple but very fun coloring and painting of the sun and the sea.  Jonah & Vera were really excited to color and paint on the same piece of paper... I was really excited because I totally remember doing it as a kid and loving this project...

The project went pretty well... Jonah did a beach scene, I did a beach scene, Vera did Elmo and Cookie...

And then the whole thing turned into paint our face, hands, table and spill paint adventure... I went with it... we painted some more pictures - afternoon well spent.

simple project:
-color with crayons on thick paper
-paint over it with water colors or watered down paint
-lots of patience for the under 4 crowd...
-let dry and hang up!
