My kids like that book enough.
Yesterday when we woke up, it was white out! Jonah and Vera were totally excited and for some reason, Jonah was obsessed with "eating snow" - "Mommy, I want to go outside and eat the snow!!!" Ok - he is just weird! Of course then his sister kept repeating him - "snow, eat, please!!!!!"
We had a whole day at our disposal - so I kaleidoscoped up a plan - one that involved snow, eating snow and playing in snow... it was a modified success!
First we "made our snow" to eat for snacks...
I figured how hard could that be... we put some ice into the blender... but that didn't exactly work... as it got crushed for a minute and then got stuck sort of... I added some water - still not great. Quickly (as Jonah & Vera were chanting SNOW SNOW SNOW we want SNOW) I looked in the fridge, I found some Greek yogurt - SCORE! We added that baby in and then some water and instant, yummy totally real looking snow! Go mommy go mommy! We were eating our snow with little "angry bird" graham crackers... as in oh look some little birdies are coming to land on your snow as we watched birds land on the snow outside our window! It was good. Then I got up to clean up a little - and yes, Jonah decided the snow should be all over the table just like it is all over the floor outside... my guy - a creative realist - see photos below.
Post snow snack, we got ourselves together and headed out for the day with a quick stop in the front yard for some snow jumping... it was very cute.
Later in the day post afternoon snack, we got dressed up for the snow and went outside to play in it... but most of it had melted away - sudden disappointment and somehow it was mommy's fault... but the kids managed to play in what was there. Good times. They went straight into to the bath after the outside episode - just like in the book.
The Snowy Day we had yesterday was super silly and just what a snowy January 24th should be.
Shabbat Shalom everyone and enjoy the snow if you got any!
Remember, tonight is Tu B'shevat! More on how we are going to celebrate it next week - but it is the Trees' Birthday... so we are excited about this one!
