Playing in the Sprays!

in the hot summer city sun!!!

In honor of Wednesday's Summer Solstice and yesterday's official start of the summer,  we had a "fun in the sun" adventure yesterday.

That's how we roll over here!  We were supposed to meet up with our buddies yesterday but they were feeling a little bit under the weather... (which was super super hot & sunny - with temperatures reaching 98 degrees on my car thermometer...)

I was going to bag the adventure for another day, but then we were running around the house, making a lot of noise and everyone seemed to have a ton of energy... so I figured why not?  Maybe we'll get some afternoon naps if we go whoop it up in the sun and heat...

Destination:  Georgetown Waterfront Park.

Everyone has been raving about it... all the blogs... the kid sites... so we were game.

We packed a bag with change of clothes, snacks, and bubbles.

En route to G-town... Vera fell asleep.  Jonah was singing her the Thomas the Train songs.  It was quite cute.  Then we saw it from Wisconsin Ave... Jonah started screaming, "mommy I see it, the sprinkles... I see them!  Vera wake up!! Wake up!!"  Amazingly we got a spot right in front on the sprays and even more amazingly Vera did not wake up.  I transferred her to the stroller and we went to the sprays.  Jonah was very very hesitant.  He insisted I go in with him... but I didn't want to leave Vera too far away... so it was a bit of a struggle.  He checked it out and sort of played in it.  Then he wanted a small snack so we sat down for a bit.  And then Vera woke up.

Jonah was totally different once Vera woke up.  He was telling her all about it. Showing her how to run through the "sprinkles" - very sweet.  Vera really liked it but only wanted to go if I was with her in the water.  I didn't get many pictures because with the two of them insisting I went in the sprays, I had to protect the camera... didn't want another camera incident.  On the other hand, I did have a ton of fun.  The sprays are silly and definitely a fun way to beat the heat!

After the sprays we walked to the grassy area and found a tree with shade.  We had a snack lunch and blew bubbles.

Everyone was tired and quiet in the car on the ride home.

Mission accomplished.
