T is for Toddler Trick or Treat!

Can you ever be Halloweened out before you actually get to Halloween?  Not if you are me or if you have two toddlers...

I wasn't actually sure what our actual day of Halloween plan was going to be... hey that is what the kaleidoscope is for, right.

I had to run and do some errands yesterday from 2-4pm.  One errand was to buy the stuff to make our Halloween Jack o Lantern pizzas for dinner.  I thought we'd make them and eat them and then go out and "trick or treat" a few houses just for the experience.  I figured we pick a few houses on our block and then call it a night... but aaaahhhh, those holidays gods - they love me!

While getting the bolis, sauce, peppers and cheese, I noticed that Conn Ave was getting crowded and the stores were setting up trick or treat spots.... aaaaahhh, I was getting a clue!

Turns out the Conn Ave strip of shops in Chevy Chase, Washington DC does a little Trick or Treat thing!  BINGO!  Sign us up!  It was from 4-6pm.  I ran home. We quickly got our costumes on - and when we were ready to head out, Jonah looks at Vera and says, "Vera, you look just Fabulous!" and Gives her a big hug!  Seriously!?!?!  He is a riot!

We grabbed our Spidey buckets and headed out!  So exciting!  In case you haven't caught on, I was a spider and I was with Spiderman and Spidergirl. We were ready to rock-n-roll (or spin a web...)!

(Sidenote: We had done the store trick or treating in Chicago in 2010 with Jonah (he was curious George, I was the Mommy in the Yellow hat, and Joc was Professor Wiseman - we did it in the Andersonville neighborhood which happened to also be where the adoption agency is that we used to eventually adopt Vera - aah life works in mysterious ways!)

Conn Ave was bustling.  Jonah & Vera were awesome at saying "Trick or Treat" and "Thank you!"  There was tons of great costumes. We bumped into at least three kids from Jonah's school.  It was totally fun and totally Halloween!   I can see us hanging on Conn Ave for many Halloweens to come!

When we got back we made our pumpkin pizzas and ate them.  We each got one piece of candy for a treat after dinner  Then it was time to get into our Halloween PJs (Thank you Aunite Al).  A little Halloween milk and a show, and my crew was done for the night.

We did get two visits from Trick or Treaters to our house and Jonah was very excited  hand out the candy.

Overall a pretty great Halloween for the Spider crew!  Now, what holiday is next?
