About Me

Washington, DC, United States
Heather Capell Bramble is mother of two kaleidoscoping kids, Jonah and Vera. She has a magical kaleidoscope, often in her back pocket, and it usually helps her turn her normally chaotic life into something beautiful. Her goal is to have as much fun and try to be as happy as they can while on the uncharted journey of motherhood. This means doing lots of arts and crafts, going on crazy adventures, and celebrating all kinds of holidays - and yes, trying to laugh along the way!

Accumulating Cousins!

Last night Jocelyn's brother, Uncle Dave, and his wife, Auntie Jernee, had their second baby!!!  That is great news!  A baby boy!  He is going to go by Dean!  Welcome Dean!

We drove to Baltimore to meet the new cousin.  Jonah and Vera stayed at the family's house in Baltimore with Dean's sister, Sydney, Grandpa, the nanny, and Great Granny Daisy.  They had a blast.  I know this because on the way home Jonah told me, I want to play with Syd more times and with Grandpa too - and mommy and mama - you leave!!!  The kid has a way with words.

Jocelyn and I both have "baby" brothers.  Both of them are married with kids.  My brother has three amazing kids: Logan (11), Rayna (7), and Xander (5).  Jonah and Vera love them so much it is awesome.  When they all get together it is wonderful.  Jocelyn's brother now has two kids: Sydney (16 mos) and Dean (1 day).  As mentioned above, Jonah & Vera love playing with their cousin Syd - and Vera's and Syd's birthday's are just 2 weeks apart!

We have started a little tradition that I hope sticks for years and years to come.  Once a year we get the cousins together on the respective sides and take a picture and give it to the Grandparents for their respective anniversary.  We take the picture of our kids and my brother's kids in March and of our kids and Jocelyn's brother's kids in December (theirs is an anniversary/holiday gift).

We can not wait to have Dean in the next "Bramble" picture.  Hopefully it will go a little bit better than this past year... when we did not get one shot of the three grand kids that was OK, so we had to make collages of all the shots!  But it was fun!

Here's to accumulating cousins!  Having family is a good thing.  Getting more of it is better.  I am excited for my kids to grow up around lots of love and lots of fun with their cousins of all ages and backgrounds!  It's what life is all about!  Celebrating our love for each other, what makes us different, what makes us similar and what makes us connected - that is a perfect way to get ready for July 4th!
