On the way back from our adventure at the College Park Aviation Museum, the kids of course fell asleep in the car. Not knowing how much fun we were going to have in the morning, or how long it was going to take... I had previously scheduled a "playdate" at 4pm at The U.S. Postal Museum - so I quickly kaleidoscoped up a plan...
Turns out Mama was at Union Station, right next door to the Postal Museum. We drove downtown and picked up Mama. Then we scored a perfect parking spot right in front of the Postal Museum. We hung out in the car for about 45 minutes more and then like magic... both kids amazingly woke up exactly at 4pm?!?!?! Go figure.
We had some juice and we were ready for our next adventure!
We met our buddies in the lobby and went at it for over an hour at the Postal Museum. Everyone loved it! It was especially perfect because Jonah and his buddy got to run all around the huge old building and all of us "moms" got to enjoy the air conditioning! The kids were doing everything - and there is a ton to do. Plus, we were like basically the only ones in the place.
I think the consensus was that the favorite spot was the "throwing small packages into mail bags" activity. This is the spot that Jonah announced quite loudly after getting a number of the packages in the bags - I AM AWESOME!!!
Vera managed to clap for herself and her buddies...
It was an "awesome" four o'clock play date with some new buddies - since that is usually the hardest time of the day for us.
We are excited to hang with our new buddies and do some other fun stuff with them.
We are also excited to visit the Postal Museum again next time it is rainy or too hot outside and we need a free place to run around!
Finally, did you know that Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General under the Continental Congress?
(Plus the Postal Museum is doing a whole thing on Titanic... and you know how we love us some Titanic over here!)
And there were planes here too! What a day for us and planes! |
