About Me

Washington, DC, United States
Heather Capell Bramble is mother of two kaleidoscoping kids, Jonah and Vera. She has a magical kaleidoscope, often in her back pocket, and it usually helps her turn her normally chaotic life into something beautiful. Her goal is to have as much fun and try to be as happy as they can while on the uncharted journey of motherhood. This means doing lots of arts and crafts, going on crazy adventures, and celebrating all kinds of holidays - and yes, trying to laugh along the way!

It's over 100 (again) for my 100th...

This is my 100th blog post!  Go me!

Today it was over 100 degrees in the nation's capitol... again... we are breaking records in these parts!

In quiet desperation to cool down, we looked up... to the airplanes... to save us.

The College Park Aviation Museum.

Another one on my list of places to go (and recommended by everyone who recommends stuff to do for the kids in the DC area...).  Our good buddies invited us along and we literally "jumped out of a plane" at the chance for buddies, air conditioning, vehicle/transportation theme - all rolled into one... whoop whoop!

We loved the museum.  It is great for little ones and big ones alike.  Plenty of time looking up at the planes, running around the big open space, doing stuff and just having fun while keeping cool in the large, open and air conditioned "airport." It wasn't very crowded except for a birthday party - but they were totally nice and fun and were not bothered by our kids joining in the fun...  Jonah and his buddy did it all and had a super time doing so... Vera can now officially keep up with Jonah - and may even be able to do more - as she speeds around touching, looking, doing, laughing, playing, coloring, dressing up, flying planes and yes, even making friends with everyone!  They are quite the pair!  Add to the mix our precocious and super fun buddy and it is the perfect trio for adventuring the day away!  And I get someone above the age of 3 to talk to (and help watch my two kids that often run in different directions...) PERFECTION - I tell ya!

Excellent day.

Full disclosure, Jonah did have 2 major temper tantrums:

-the first when we bypassed the gift shop at the museum and he was screaming for TOYS!!! (he didn't get any, but he did get a cool plane fan and a prize on the way out-that should have been enough...)

-the second when we stopped with our buddies for lunch at a nearby family friendly spot.

That being said, he did have an AWESOME potty day!  No accidents all day and no real fights with me about going to the potty! AWESOME is his new favorite word.  He uses it to describe himself.  I find this amusing. And tonight I will use it to describe his potty performance... Oh how things change...

100 posts, over 100 degrees outside, and I've got hundreds of more things to say about everything & anything (including the potty apparently...)

Here's to 100 more posts, less than 100 degrees tomorrow, and hundreds of good things for the good people in this world.

I finally took a picture of the car thermometer...
